Description

Get a new take on working with fiction readers by participating in this program led by NoveList creator and product manager Duncan Smith. Using videotapes of readers talking about books they have read and enjoyed, Duncan provides a reader-centered approach to meeting the needs of your fiction readers. Integrating resources such as NoveList into the readers' advisory process will also be covered as part of this presentation. NoveList is provided to by the Michigan eLibrary (MeL).

This program is the perfect way for you to learn how to make the best use of NoveList in working with your library’s fiction readers.

The following common scenarios will be addressed:

Duncan Smith is the creator and product manager of EBSCO Publishing's electronic readers' advisory resource NoveList. He is a nationally recognized trainer in the area of readers' advisory services. Smith is also the author of several articles on readers' advisory services, his latest article “Your Brain on Fiction,” will appear in a forthcoming issue of RUSQ. In 1997, he received the Margaret E. Monroe Award for Library Adult Services from the American Library Association's Reference and User Services Division.
